Brief History of Chin Community in Canada

Chin people are aboriginal people inhabitants of western part of Myanmar borders with India, Bangladesh and Myanmar. The first Chin group came to Canada in the middle of 1990s and in early 2000s more Chin people came to Canada from Malaysia and India as landed immigrants. There are now approximately between 2200-2300 Chin people living in Canada. The largest Chin community are in Vancouver, British Columbia and Kitchener-Waterloo and Ottawa region of Ontario where more than two third of the total Chin populations in Canada are living.
More than 95% of Chin people living in Canada are Christians. For Christian fellowship service, Chin people in Canada established Chin Christian Fellowship of Canada (CCFC) in 2006 which has been actively leading all Christian matters regarding Chin people in Canada until today.
